Basically, yeah. His motivation is, in a word, greed. He wants whatever gets him the most material gain and doesn't care who he has to step on to get it. In this case, becoming clan leader allows him to control how their clan is used worldwide, and basically supports Sphyre's goal of spreading war since it drives a need for both mercenaries and assassins, resulting in large profits for himself, which he can use to buy women, wine, or any material object he desires. Of course, there's no way Aislyn would let him get away with this, so he'll be trying to kill her right after... you may notice she doesn't have the 3 scars on her face just yet. ;)
